Preparation of items for sale:
Please bring only IN SEASON clothing items (Fall sale means we will
NOT accept Spring or Summer clothes or accessories). If we find items that are for the
wrong seasons, we may remove them from the racks to prevent overcrowding.
All clothing (sizes newborn to teen or
maternity) must be clean and in good condition, without large stains,
tears, or missing buttons. We will be removing items with noticeable stains or other noticeable damage from the racks to leave room for clothing in better condition. Please check your items carefully before bringing them to the sale.
Please
do not bring clothing that is out of style and not in good to excellent
condition.
Clothing should be
sorted by size and gender prior to drop off to facilitate proper placing on
racks. All clothes must be placed on hangers to be put on racks for display,
with the exception of shoes, socks, and accessories. Consignors must provide
their own hangers. MOPS does not store hangers between sales.
Slacks and jeans
should be attached to hangers using safety pins only (absolutely no straight
pins). It works best to put the safety pins on the part of the hanger
that forms the triangle so that pants hang down without sliding around.
Tags should be
placed on the left shoulder or side
(looking at the garment, the tag will be on the right) so that they are
easy to see. It is MANDATORY to use a hole punch on the upper left side of the tag to attach the tag to clothing using a safety pin. Removing pins from tags with no holes is a nightmare for our taggers and slows down the check-out process!
Layette items (such as blankets) are displayed on tables. Socks and small accessories should be placed in clean plastic zipper bags to be displayed on a table. Safety pin the tag to the outside of the bag so that it can be read easily.
You should TEST all DVDs and CDs to make sure that they still play correctly and are not overly scratched. Please also check for missing pieces in puzzles and other sets (especially building sets) and if there are missing pieces, please note this on the tag....and price accordingly.Toys, play equipment, and baby equipment should be wiped down so that they are clean.
All items should be in good, usable condition. Please make sure that
toys and games have all their pieces, or if not, indicate the missing
pieces on the tag and price the item appropriately. Small pieces that
are not contained in the toy or its box should be put in clean plastic
zipper bags and attached to toy with tape or rubber bands. Fabrics on
car seats, strollers, and exersaucers should be washed and stains
removed as much as possible.
All items are subject to inspection
by volunteers. Items that do not meet these standards may be pulled
from the floor and not put up for sale. Please do not bring items that are broken or overly worn out. They will be pulled from the sale floor.
Attaching tags to clothing
Tags should be attached to clothing by safety pins ONLY (no straight pins, tape, stickers or staples.) through a hole-punched hole in the tag. We will not
accept clothing with tags attached with a tag gun. Make sure the safety
pin goes through the hole in the tag. Punch the hole at least a ¼ in.
into the card so that the hole does not rip. Tags may be safety pinned to the outside of plastic baggies for items such as tee-shirts, layette, socks, bows, etc. Each item should only have one tag. If an outfit has several pieces, just indicate this on the description section of the tag.
Attaching tags to Toys and Equipment
Please use the same tags on clothing and
non-clothing items. The same card stock and size requirements still
apply to toys, equipment, and non-hanging items. Items with cloth (for
example car seats, swings, strollers) can have their tags attached with
safety pin through a hole punched in the tag just like the clothing
items. Tags can be attached to hard items (for instance, a video, or
plastic play equipment) with a rubber band, yarn or string. Thread the
rubber band through the hole, then take one end and put it through the
middle of the rubber band creating a loop. Place the loop over the
toy. String works great on all oddly shaped items. Please use tape as
a last resort - with one strip through the middle of the tag (across
the description).
Items NOT for Sale
Crank swings, car seats, bottles with nipples, sippy cups and stuffed animals are NOT accepted for consignment or donation. Only infant carseats that are part of a stroller combination are accepted for consignment. Any items on this list that are brought in will be removed from the floor.
