Floor
There are two Floor shifts on Saturday:
8:00 am - 11:00 am
11:00 am - 2:30 pm*
Certainly the most visible aspect of the sale is what happens on the sales floor on Saturday. Floor volunteers greatly impact the success of the sale! Make sure that clothing, toys, equipment, and all other merchandise remain in an orderly manner. Particularly watch for clothes that have fallen off the hangers. Match up missing tags as best possible with items or move tags to the Lost Tag Board. If your area is straight, check the hold bay or cashier area for items to put back. Some Floor volunteers will be monitoring the stage area where shoppers are allowed to sort through items for purchase. Getting items back on the racks that they do not wish to purchase will be of great importance. Floor volunteers will begin cleanup by organizing items within each area during the end of the second shift. In addition, be ready to assist customers in understanding the procedures of our sale, as they will come to you first with questions.
Helping with Floor is an important way to contribute to the success of the sale. If you have any questions about your shift or the sale in general, please contact the Floor Shift Leader. Her email and phone number are listed on your confirmation email. We are looking forward to working with you at the sale!
* Volunteers that serve the 11:00 am - 2:30 pm shift can shop the half-price sale a half hour before it opens to the public at 11:30 am, after checking in with their shift leader.
Stick around shop the Dollar Dash as well, if you'd like!
Hold Bay
There are two Hold Bay shifts on Saturday:
8:00 am – 11:00 am
11:00 am - 2:30 pm *
Volunteers working in the Hold Bay provide assistance very important for the smooth operation of the sale, particularly during the Volunteer Pre-Sale. There will be two hold bay areas - one for large items, and one for piles of small items. In the Large Item Hold Bay, large items will be re-tagged by volunteers with a Large Item Tag. Shoppers must purchase items in order to have them held in the Large Item Hold Bay. Hold Bay workers will help the cashier complete these sales quickly by removing the tag(s) and totaling the sale. While the cashier accepts the payment and validates the receipt, the large item will be pulled back into the designated Hold Bay area. When a customer returns for pick-up, volunteers will find the item that matches their receipt, and help the customer bring their purchases to the door.
The Small Hold Bay will be mainly for clothing and small items. The Small Hold Bay volunteer will simplify fill out a hold slip noting the time. The customer will receive a numbered clothespin, and another with a matching number will be attached to their items. When the customer returns, simply retrieve the clothespin, and give them their items. Specific instructions for this position will be given to you when you arrive for your shift.
