Volunteer General Information

The CFC MOPS CONSIGNMENT SALE would not be possible without the help of many volunteers.  Each and every volunteer plays an important role to help making it a success!  We hope you enjoy being involved in our sale. Here you will find information on Volunteer Benefits, Positions, Shifts, and the Volunteer Pre-Sale.

Please note...

  • Remember to mark that commitment on your calendar when you register for a volunteer position!  When we confirm your shift, we close that commitment to other potential volunteers.  All registration ends two weeks prior to the sale. It may not be possible to change your shift once registration is closed. If you need to make a change, please notify the Registration Coordinator as soon as possible. To determine which shift you would like to volunteer for, please check out the volunteer benefits for description of each shift.

  • If you do not have items to consign, but would like to shop the Volunteer Pre-Sale, please register as a Volunteer Only by clicking HERE. Those volunteering only at the CFC MOPS SALE may shop the Volunteer Pre-Sale at their assigned shift, as early as 6:15 AM on Saturday. Please stop by the Check-In Table on Saturday morning to receive your Pre-Sale Ticket before getting in the pre-sale line. There will be a person at this entrance by 6:00 AM.

  • Please be on time!  Arrive a few minutes early for your volunteer shift so that you can check in and be in position on time.  If you are late for your shift, you will be asked to stay an additional period of time.

  • If you are working the Saturday, 8:00 am - 11:00 shift, it is very important that you complete your purchases and begin your shift on time. If it seems that you are having a hard time getting through the check-out line or loading you car with your purchases, please find your Shift Leader before 8 am, so that she can advise you what to do. (Volunteers working later shifts can continue to shop.)

If you are working a shift that starts at 11:00, ends at 11:00 or is during 11:00, you are eligible to shop the Half Price sale before the public does.  HOWEVER, you MUST check-in with your shift leader before being released to shop.  You also may NOT set aside items during the regular sale to purchase during the half-price sale at half price.

  • When you check in for your shift, you will be given your volunteer name tag.  Please be sure to check out with your Shift Leader when your shift is completed so that we can confirm you served the entire 3 hours.

  • In the event that you have registered as a consignor AND volunteer, and at the last minute decide not to consign any items, please send a quick e-mail to the Registration Team Leader so she can update her information. Thank you.

FAQs

What is the commitment involved for volunteering?
Volunteering at our MOPS Sale is a 3 hour commitment.  You can volunteer either the Friday before the Sale or the day of the Sale.  There are also Tag Tally positions that allow you to volunteer the Monday or Wednesday evening after the Sale.  Volunteering in Publicity, Donations or Admin is more flexible for your schedule, but you will still be busy with 3-hours' worth of work (still fun though!).  You may also choose the Hospitality position, which allows you to purchase approximately $30 worth of assigned food items to be dropped off at the sale on Friday between 4:00-7:30 pm.

What if I am a Consignor AND I am volunteering on Friday?

If you a Consignor AND volunteering on Friday, please plan your time accordingly!  You will not be able to drop off your items during your shift.  If you are working Friday Set-Up (3:15-6:15pm), you must drop off your items after your shift.  If you are working Friday Drop-Off or Quality Control (5:00-8:00pm), you must either drop off your items the half hour before your shift or arrange for a friend or family member to drop off your items for you.  Please allow AMPLE time to park and get your items on the floor.  Aim to arrive at Sanders Corner by 4:45 pm to allow plenty of time to park before your shift starts.

Please check in twice - once as a consignor and once as a volunteer.  Drop-off volunteers must consign their items first prior to checking in as a volunteer at the beginning of their shift.  If you are serving on Friday Rack Move or Set-Up, you check-in as a volunteer first, then come back at the end of your shift to check-in as a consignor.

What if I am pregnant or prefer to be fairly stationary during my shift?
Consider these positions on the day of the sale: Small Item Hold Bay or Cashier/Tagger or Tag Sorter. If you have a newborn, you might also consider the position of Tag Sorter. If you are pregnant, we do not recommend that you sign up for Setup or Cleanup. Please clearly inform the Registration Coordinator when you sign up for your shift if you have this need.

Can my husband serve my shift for me?
Yes! We are always looking for men to help with Rack Move, Setup and Cleanup.  You can simply register your husband in the Registration page and you still have the benefit of shopping the Pre-Sale.  However, only one person can shop the pre-sale per volunteer.  Both you and your husband cannot shop the pre-sale unless both of you serve a volunteer shift.

Can I bring children with me during my shift?
We ask that you leave young children at home.  Infants that can remain in a soft carrier are welcome, but please let the Registration Coordinator know.  Young teens (and older) have helped out at our sale to earn volunteer hours for their school.  These teens can help with tagging and general help on the floor.  If you are interested in bringing a teen with you, please let us know.

What if I find out last minute I cannot work my volunteer shift?
We understand that emergencies happen, but please take your commitment seriously.  The success of our sale depends on our volunteers!  Please do your best to give us two weeks notice if you need to cancel your volunteer shift.  You must contact the Registration Coordinator at register@cfcmops.com.  If you are not able to complete a shift, you will not be eligible to shop the pre-sale and you will receive only 50% of your sold items. Please contact your Shift Leader, Registration Team Leader or Consignment Coordinator if you have any questions about this process.
