Food Packaging Event
July 31 in Room 700
CFC Outreach in Haiti
In the months since the January earthquake in Haiti, CFC has been working with our ministry partners to help them handle the after effects. We are doing this through two different efforts. First, we are working through our partnerships in Northern Haiti. One of our volunteer outreach leaders has taken trips to work with these ministries. He has delivered emergency funds to help purchase food and basic supplies for the many refugees and at the end of June, he will be leading a team from CFC to help with reconstruction and to minister to the refugees.
Our second effort is through a partnership with Stop Hunger Now (www.stophungernow.org). In February, CFC raised enough money to ship two containers of food to Haiti. Each shipment holds 142,000 meal packs containing fortified rice and vegetables. One of these containers was packaged and shipped in February. Over 700 of our CFC members and the Loudoun County community came together to package this food. The second container will be packaged at CFC on July 31st.
How Can You Help?

Frequently Asked Questions
1. Is there childcare available?
There will be childcare available during the 8:30 am shift only. You must register for the childcare in advance.
2. Is CFC still collecting donations towards this effort?
CFC will be continuing our relationship with Stop Hunger Now. Monetary donations to assist with this and future projects are always needed and are, as always, tax deductible. You can bring your donations to the Outreach Department at CFC or make a donation online at www.cfellowshipc.org/helphaiti.
3. Who can help with this project?
The Stop Hunger Now organization has worked to create an atmosphere that allows almost everyone to be involved. Small children (ages 5 and above with their parents) are welcome. Each person is able to move at their own pace and can be given assignments that allow for any disabilities.
4. Can I sign up for more than one shift? Yes!
5. My schedule doesn’t exactly match the shifts on the sign up sheet, can I still sign up?
We know that sometimes scheduling conflicts cannot be avoided, but the process runs much smoother when everyone is in attendance for the opening instructions. Please try to choose a time slot that allows for your full attendance.
6. Can my friends/coworkers volunteer along with me?
Anyone can sign up to help at this event. You are able to sign 10 people up with your own sign up. But please realize that email updates only go to the person who signs up on our site. If you sign up for your guest, please forward all correspondence to them.

Stop Hunger Now Program Director, Allen Renquist, traveled to Haiti in April. Below is an excerpt from from his newsletter article.
"I traveled to Haiti with a videographer and a documentarian to capture the distribution of Stop Hunger Now aid in action on the ground and to hear personal stories from the people on the ground that lived through the experience. Every single volunteer that packaged meals, every donor that came forward to make a difference, and every staff member that worked around the clock packaging meals deserved to see what they have done for the people of Haiti," said Renquist.
